Counterfeit Money

  • Updated

Objective

The purpose of the Counterfeit Money Article is to ensure that we are taking all precautionary steps to recognize and detect counterfeit money. Below highlights the guidelines and steps to take if you believe a bill is counterfeit.

Procedure - Guidelines

1. Every honeygrow is supplied with an ultraviolet, magnetic ink, fluorescent and/or microprint 4-way counterfeit detector.

2. As part of their initial training, all Cashiers will be taught to use the detector and recognize a counterfeit bill.

3. It is recommended that every bill $10 and over be quickly swiped through the magnetic ink detector, which will cause the machine to briefly light up and beep. This can be done swiftly as part of every cash transaction.

4. The remaining detection methods are backup options if the magnetic ink cannot be identified.

Procedure - If you believe a bill is counterfeit, follow these steps below:

1. Do not accept it.

2. Let the guest know the bill is not passing our counterfeit detection test and ask to keep the bill as is required by law.

  • If they allow you to keep it, put the bill in an envelope, keep aside in the office, fill out an incident report and send it to the DM.

  • If the guest denies your attempt to keep the bill or starts to get angry, it is better to give the bill back than argue with the guest or cause a scene.

3. Write down a description of the guest.

4. Fill out an incident report with as many details as possible and send it to the DM.

5. The DM is responsible for alerting the other restaurants in the district of the guest’s description and calling the local police to report the counterfeit bill.
